18 Dual System Audio

When filming a project we have to have perfect audio. We do this by capturing audio with a different device rather than using the microphone mounted on the camera.

We use a handheld recorder from Samson called a Zoom H4n to capture audio that we synchronize with the video for maximum quality.

In today’s Quest you will:

  • Understand the basics of recording audio for film
  • Learn basic operation techniques for the Zoom H4n
  • Learn tips for working on set with dual system recording
  • Learn to use FCP X to synchronize audio and video
